AMASA 2026 Prizes for Emerging Science and Societal Impact

We are pleased to invite NASAC Member Academies and partner institutions to nominate outstanding African scientists for the AMASA 2026 Prizes for Emerging Science and Societal Impact, recognising scientific excellence, originality, and meaningful relevance to society. We encourage institutions to nominate eligible scientists within their networks. Self-nomination is not permitted, and each nominee will be considered for only one prize category.

  1. AMASA 2026 Emerging Science Prize
    For early-career scientists who obtained their PhD within the seven years preceding the nomination deadline.

  1. AMASA 2026 Societal Impact Prize
    For established scientists who obtained their PhD more than seven years before the nomination deadline, recognising research that has contributed to policy, practice, public understanding, or sustainable development.

The nomination deadline is 15 October 2026.

The recipients will be announced and honoured during AMASA 2026, taking place in Nairobi, Kenya, from 10–12 November 2026.
